Beach Front Boozing
BoozeSanDiego's favorite beach front bars

San Diego’s favorite summer pastime has always been going to the beach and drinking in the sun. But with the recent ban on boozing at the beach in San Diego, locals and tourists have been forced to take their drinking inside. But this doesn’t mean that you have to stay home and drink during the day because there are plenty of ocean front bars in San Diego where you can toast a beer while watching people cruise along the boardwalk. Boozesandiego has hand picked the coolest bars to help remedy the urge to get your drink on while enjoying a day at the beach. These are our favorite Beach Front Bars in San Diego.
Cheap beer, fish tacos, cheap beer, awesome bloody marys, and cheap pitchers of beer make Lahaina in Pacific Beach one of the most popular locals only beach front bars in San Diego. With a crowded deck on any given sunny day you simply can’t find a better bar to sit outside and get rowdy with some real PB people. Anybody who has bad things to say about this bar really doesn’t like to party and is clearly in the wrong neighborhood because this bar represents the essence of Pacific Beach lifestyle.
Located along a huge stretch of the Mission Beach boardwalk at Belmont Park, the Wave House offers a selection of entertainment beyond just people watching. Two artificial waves and regular events and incredible musical talent ranging from local bands to world-class DJ’s make this a great place to take your out of town visitors on a sunny afternoon. Although this Mission Beach bar is a bit more expensive than other local water holes it is a must on holiday weekends during hot summer days.
This Pacific Beach restaurant is just a few blocks up the road but a world away from our first two favorites. Just north of Crystal Pier, this upscale lounge bar serves delicious martinis, cocktails, and an extensive list of wines. Incredible brunch and dinner menus make JRDN Restaurant a great place to start a crazy time in PB.
The Pacific Beach shore club might be the only inexpensive local bar in San Diego with an unparalleled panoramic view overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The ability to watch beautiful unobstructed sunsets while dolphins play in the waters below would make you think that this bar only serves top shelf drinks and 10 bucks a pop. But quite to the contrary, no cover and cheap schooners of beer can be found at this Pacific Beach bar on every night of the week. This has even become one of the most popular places in PB to watch a UFC fight because admission is always free and the bar food is decent enough. Just be careful on weekend nights because if you arrive past 10pm you will never make it past the line.
This is the (better looking) sister property to an old Pacific Beach bar favorite is one of the more recent additions to Ocean Beach nightlife. Tons of flat screens, a delicious full food menu, and comfy new seating in a chic yet sporty environment make this Ocean Beach bar hands down the nicest place to drink in the neighborhood. As if this wasn’t enough, food and drinks are fairly cheap with food and drink specials nearly every night and $9 pitchers round the clock. Although some would critique that fact that this joint isn’t dumpy enough for OB, we believe that it is a good thing to finally have one non-dive bar in Ocean Beach. Besides the dirty dandruff dreadlocked locals have a dozen other filthy bars to choose from within walking distance. If you haven’t checked out this great new sports bar in ocean beach, put in on your to-do list because I guarantee you are gonna fall in love with this beach front bar.
