Isthmus Block Party
Author: greg30 Aug
On August 29th, 2006 Isthmus Court, the most notorious party court in Mission Beach, filled with drunks as the 7th annual Block Party ensued. It was a glorious day of shots, beer bonging, and keg stands led by two simple men with nothing more than a dream of a more counterproductive drunken society. BoozeSanDiego.com pulled together festivities which would go down in history as one of the best neighborhood parties known to man.
The day started off with a bang as the rhythmic clicking of the Wheel O Death called out to all of Isthmus Court to begin drinking before noon. By 2pm the court was filled with neighbors and guests shaking some ass to the sounds of DJ Filthy Sanchez, who dumped track after track of the filthiest jams you’ve ever heard. People could hear the music for blocks and were drawn to the madness while thinking, “Holy shit! Maybe I should call the cops. Or better yet, maybe I should spin the wheel and drink myself blind.”
Everything went smoothly until the Franzia was unleashed and the party went ape-shit about chugging dirty wine and slapping the bag with all their might. Ten kegs, ten handles of vodka, and two cases of Rockstar later, the Dance Commander Snowseph had lost his mind and began taking his pants off. At some point the cops may have come, but I can’t really remember and I don’t think anyone really noticed because I’m sure everyone partied all night long.
I would like to give a tremendous thanks to everyone that made it out to kill some brain cells. I’ve got a butt-load of pictures for you to paste onto your myspace to prove that you were looking damn sexy that day. I’m talking sexy enough to bone on the first night.
Love Fridays at 4th & B
Author: greg15 Aug
The supreme joint for concerts and after-hours parties in downtown San Diego has always been 4th & B. But with the explosion of downtown over the past few years, fierce competition from new, more elaborate concert venues has threatened 4th & B’s ability to book the top artists touring through San Diego. A few changes, a new niche, and some creative booking are keeping this OG concert hall’s ticket sales up more than ever.
The largest threat to 4 th & B has definitely been the arrival of the House of Blues just a few blocks away. The House of Blues’ budget and street credibility has allowed it to scoop most of the major talent on tour through San Diego. Even Petco Park has managed to host a few major acts such as the Rolling Stones in 2005.
After a full facelift, new lighting, and a seriously upgraded sound system, 4th & B has reclaimed itself as the czar of after-hours parties. Their San Diego “Love” Friday nights has hosted the best DJ talent in the world, such as Tiesto, Sasha & Digweed, Sandra Collins, and The Crystal Method with no end in sight. With many such Fridays selling out the 21,000 foot arena, this rekindling of the rave scene in San Diego seems to have no end anytime in the near future. Keep an eye on 4th and B because you do not want to miss what’s coming up next weekend in San Diego.
